The Police in Ogun State have arrested a 28-year-old man for alleged defilement of a child.
According to a statement put out by the Ogun State Police Command Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the man whose name was not identified as of the time of filing this report is accused of having carnal knowledge of his 5-year-old daughter.
Oyeyemi also revealed that the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Ijebu Mushin Police Divisional Headquarters.
"After learning from her daughter how the suspect had been having carnal knowledge of her, the victim's mother approached the police to report the incident.
"It was further gathered that the suspect has confessed to committing the crime but claimed to have done it unconsciously," the statement added.
