The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), in Ogun State, has said that the state recorded 228 deaths in various road accidents in 2021.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson to TRACE disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday.
Akinbiyi stated that 831 crashes were recorded during the period with 713 motor vehicles and 118 motorcycles involved in the accidents.
He also added that 1,311 people were injured including 931 males and 380 females. Out of the 228 death recorded, 179 were male while 49 were female.
Akinbiyi concluded that most of the accidents were caused by overspeeding, overtaking among others.
