Ogun urges traders to be verified to get FG grants

Small business owners have been urged by the Ogun State Government to participate in the ongoing verification and enumeration exercise in the 20 local government areas of the state to enable them to access the Federal Government nano grant.

Adebola Sofela, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, disclosed this on Thursday that the exercise began on Monday and would end on Friday.

Sofela noted that the Bank of Industry had sent text messages to people who registered earlier, pointing out that most stakeholders thought the process was a scam.

He said, “Both the Federal Government and Ogun State Government remain unwavering in their decision to upgrade the status of small-scale business owners.”

He implored prospective beneficiaries to report to the nearest local government secretariat with their Bank Verification Number and National Identification Number for data capture.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Olu Aikulola, stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government was taking advantage of every opportunity to boost the living standard of its people.

“The focus of the state government on both the industrial sector and small-scale businesses is second to none. It will continue to create an enabling environment for business to thrive,” Aikulola added.
