Okada Rider Killed, Six Others Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Highw

A commercial motorcyclist was on Wednesday crushed to death along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State in an accident that injured six other persons.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident happened at about 1:10 pm near the Arepo bus station.

Florence Okpe, a representative for the FRSC in Ogun, claimed that an unregistered Lexus sedan struck two Bajaj motorcycles with the registration numbers FFF617 QM and LAR489VY.

Eight men in total were involved in the mishap, according to Okpe who spoke with DAILY POST.

“Six persons were injured, one person unhurt and unfortunately, one person was killed,” she said.

Route violations and overspeeding, according to Okpe, were to blame for the collision, which caused the Lexus car to lose control and crash into the motorbikes.

She said that the deceased body was placed in the morgue at Divine Touch Hospital and that the injured victims were brought to Emergency Hospital, Ojota and Real Divine Touch Hospital, Ibafo for medical assistance.

Ahmed Umar, the FRSC's Ogun Sector Commander, stated that the disaster may have been avoided if the laws and regulations had been adhered to.

Additionally, he expressed sympathy to the victims' families and counselled drivers to always keep other road users in mind.
