The appointment of Prof John Okeniyi, as Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been approved by President Bola Tinubu.
According to a press statement signed by the Director of Information at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Patricia Deworitshe, on Monday, Prof Okeniyi’s appointment is for a first term of four years with effect from August 24, 2023.
Presenting the appointment letter on behalf of the Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof Ali Pate, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Daju Kachollom, urged Okeniyi to remember the responsibility of the office and the desires of the Nigerias for an effective and responsive healthcare delivery system.
“It is expected that you will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that the Hospital continues to deliver quality healthcare services to our people,” Kachollom said.
Responding, Okeniyi appreciated the Federal Government for finding him worthy to serve and vowing to be honourable and active in carrying out his new assignment in line with the administration's renewed hope agenda.
“I promise that I will not disappoint Mr. President and the Ministry of Health. I will work in collaboration and harmony with all stakeholders, and look into the welfare of staff of the hospital.
"I will also do my best to ensure that the incessant internal crisis at the hospital will be brought to an end," the new CMD said.
