Olubadan, Folarin, Others Congratulate Makinde On Re-Election

Oba Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadan land has described the victory of Governor Seyi Makinde as a reward for keeping faith in his covenant with the people of the state.

Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Teslim Folarin, has also congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde on his victory at the poll.

Oba Balogun, in a statement on Monday in Ibadan, tasked Makinde not to take the support of the people for granted in his second term.

The traditional ruler also advised him to work harder so that the people of the state would not feel disappointed.

He maintained that the election result was a verdict of the confidence of the people in the governor and which he earned through his service to the people in his first term.

Folarin, in his congratulatory statement also made available to the media on Monday, urged his supporters and party members to remain calm.

He added he and the Oyo APC were studying the election results.

AllNews Nigeria had reported that Makinde won in 31 local government areas with a total of 563,756 votes to defeat his closest rival, Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won in two local government areas and scored 256,685 votes.

The gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, Adebayo Adelabu, came third in the race with a total of 38,357 votes.

Bayo Adelabu, the guber candidate of the Accord Party and the Labour Party candidate, Taofeeq Akinwale had also congratulated the governor.
