Olunloyo: Former Oyo governor debunks viral death rumour

A former Governor of Oyo State and elder statesman, Dr Omololu Olunloyo has broken his silence about the rumour of his death, confirming that he is alive.

Olunloyo who spoke with newsmen who visited his Molete residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Friday said he was hale and hearty.

Allnews.ng gathered that the viral rumour of the death of the elder statesman was reported by some news platforms. One of such outlets tracked down by our correspondent however deleted the news. 

While speaking on the rumour, Olunloyo said, “I’m still here, not yet gone. Those breaking death news and the person presumed dead will all die one day.

“I’ve been lucky. My father died at 42, while my mother died at 102. I’m 89. I’ve crossed the expected life age.”

Victor Omololu Olunloyo is a mathematician who became governor of Oyo State in Nigeria in October 1983, holding the office briefly until the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari took power in December 1983.

He later became a power in the People's Democratic Party in Oyo State.
