Oluwo Applauds Osun, Oyo Governors Over Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Ro

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has applauded the governments of Osun and Oyo states over the commencement of the construction of the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo road.

The construction of the road, which has been awarded to Peculiar Consult Nigeria Limited by the two state governments, began Tuesday. 

Oba Akanbi gave the update on Tuesday in Iwo while addressing journalists.

The monarch said the construction of the road will go a long way to turn around the economic downturn of the urban centres.

"This construction will boost our economy and take us away from isolation. We have been isolated because of the road.

"We have broken the jinx. This is a breakthrough since the 1970s they did this road. We are happy that our people will not be suffering anymore. 

"The cordial relationship of the Oyo and Osun States governments will be cemented through developed inner gold which is road.

"If there is no way to somewhere it means that place does not exist.

"This road has been problematic and today we thank the governors of Osun and Oyo states, Seyi Makinde and Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, for putting politics aside and listening to the masses and the kings.

"We told them we need this. We also thank the contractor, Engineer Lanre Adeleke."

The contractor hanging the project has also assured that the work will be delivered in record time.

Engineer Lanre Adeleke, the Managing Director of Peculiar  Consult Nigeria Limited have the assurance also in Iwo.

"What we are doing now, we have mobilised to the site, this is 91KM road been funded by Oyo and Osun governments under a collaborative effort called 'Alternative funding approach.

"The flag-off is going to be Monday 24th 2022 but between now and then we will be involved in palliative measures to ease vehicular movement along this road. 

"The two states have shown commitment, the contract has been awarded to our organization, so we are good to go.

"We are going to deliver the road in 18 months which is the duration of the contract. 

"I implore road users along this route to be patient with us.

"We have a road Management team from the two states and we also have our flagmen that are going to be diverting motorists to an alternative route. 

"By the time we are done with the construction of the road the time of movement between Ibadan and Iwo will be 25 minutes and from Iwo to Osogbo will be 23 minutes.

"What has been causing motorists two hours and lately five hours? So the travel time will be reduced to about 50 minutes."
