Olympics Qualifiers: Super Falcons Ready To Face Tougher Opp

Super Falcons Coach Justine Madugu has expressed that his team are battle-ready to face tougher teams in Africa to make it safely through to the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Paris next year.

Madugu spoke highly of the Super Falcons after they thrashed Ethiopia 4-0 in their second-leg encounter at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The Falcons won 5-1 on aggregate to advance to the third round, where they will trade tackles with Cameroon's Indomitable Lionesses.

Cameroon, on their part, overturned a two-goal deficit against Uganda to win 3-2 on aggregate and book their place in the third round.

"Whoever comes our way we will be ready for them, Madugu told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“For you to be able to go to the Olympics, you must play against the best teams and you must be prepared for them.

“We take on Cameroon in the penultimate round and have our game plan that will enable us emerge victorious, and qualify for the final round.”

The two-leg third round qualifier is set to take place between February 9 and 28, 2024.

Victory would be a great deal to Nigeria and Nigerians as the Super Falcons have previously failed to qualify for the last three editions of the Olympic games after participating in three previous editions in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
