Omokri Says Christmas, Easter Not Christian Holiday Explains Why He Celebrates Thanksgiving

Omokri Says Christmas, Easter Not Christian Holiday Explains

Reno Omokri, a former media aide to erstwhile Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has taken to his social media page to explain why he celebrates Thanksgiving as he tags Christmas, Easter, and Halloween Western, as non-Christian holidays.

Omokri, who was earlier in the news after he released pieces of evidence on the Lekki shooting, explained that he has a soft spot for thanksgiving because the bible directs man to give thanks.

The former president's social media aide further revealed that he is thankful that God gave him the strength to bear the loss of his grandfather.

“I generally avoid Western holidays like Christmas, Easter and Halloween (they are Western, not Christian holidays). But I have a soft spot for Thanksgiving since Scripture tells us to be thankful. I am thankful God gave me the fortitude to bear my Grandfather’s death,” he tweeted.

Omokri's tweet is coming as America celebrates Thanksgiving.

The celebration of Festivity amongst Nigerian Christian groups has for a long time been a matter of debate.

While some denominations believe that there is nothing wrong with the celebration of Christmas and Easter, other denominations are of the opinion that the dates chosen are not the actual dates meant for the celebration.

Recall that the former presidential aide earlier made the news after he released a shocking video on his Twitter handle on Tuesday afternoon where he claims that the geolocation, timestamp, and metadata on the video shows that the protester in the video was killed by government forces at Lekki.
