Ondo Decides 2020: DSS Issues Fresh Directives Ahead Of Gove

The Department of State Services (DSS) has called on its personnel deployed for Saturday’s Ondo governorship election to be professional in their conduct.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, gave the admonition in a statement on Thursday in Abuja

He said the service is fully prepared for the election, urging all stakeholders in the electoral process to play by the rules of the game.

Afunanya stated that the service would partner with sister security agencies and offer the needed support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a hitch-free election in the state.

“Persons and groups wishing to engage in violent activities to breakdown law and order are advised to desist or be ready to face the full wrath of the law,’’ he said

In another report, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, issued a stern warning to politicians against engaging in actions and using words that could prevent the conduct of a free and fair election in the state.

Adamu said that adequate deployments in terms of manpower, marine, aerial surveillance, and other assets of the force had been deployed to ensure an effective security coverage.

He also cautioned security operatives, including policemen, on their conduct during the election.

The IGP also encouraged all eligible voters to come out to cast their votes without any fear of intimidation on the day of the election.
