Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, the police in Ondo have vowed to jail political thugs and their sponsors found causing violence.
Issuing this warning in Akure, the state capital, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, warned political thugs to avoid causing trouble before, during, and after the governorship election.
Further holding that he had on different occasions warned leaders of political parties to caution their supporters, Salami said that anyone planning to add violence to Ondo politics is a "joker".

"If anyone thinks he could add violence to politics in Ondo State, such a joker would regret their involvement in politics.
“The Ondo State Police Command would not hesitate to send anyone found sponsoring or inducing anybody into carrying out acts of violence in the name of politics to jail.”
In a related development, AllNews earlier reported that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) promised to ensure that the election in the state is better than the one conducted in Edo state.
The governorship election conducted in Edo State was not only recorded to be peaceful but credible.
However, there has been a constant report of political violence in the state ahead of the governorship election exercise.
