Blind voters at PU 8 Ijebu 1, Owo LGA has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for making braille ballot guide available at the Polling Unit to enable them to cast their votes.

AllNews reports that approximately 4.25 million Nigerians are blind or have low vision, and nearly 30 million Nigerians (15 percent of the Nigeria’s population) live with some form of disability.

Ultimately, INEC’s distribution of ballots in Braille to guide Ondo voters with visual impairments is a significant advancement for Nigeria’s participatory democracy, especially if rolled out nationwide for future federal elections.
