Ondo Election Update 2020: APC's Akeredolu Cripples Jegede, PDP, Agboola; Set To Be Named Winner

The freshest Ondo Election Update from South-West is that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has all but been reelected to office, after garnering more votes than his closest challenger, Eyitayo Jegede of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

AllNews reports that the results of the18 local governments in the Sunshine State have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, with Akeredolu, flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), clinching most of the local governments.

The final vote count for the Ondo Governorship Election reads Rotimi Akeredolu (APC) - 292,830; Eyitayo Jegede (PDP) - 195, 791.

Thus, Akeredolu defeated Jegede with over 97, 000 votes.

Agboola Ajayi of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) came a distant third with 69, 127 votes.

Rufus Akeju, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for INEC in Ondo State asked for some minutes to read out all the results and probably officially declare the winner.
