The Ondo State Government has announced that it is has cancelled the 2022 June 12 celebration, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2022.
The cancellation it announced became necessary due to the terror assault on worshippers at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde is to allow the people of the state to grieve their loved ones who died in the incident.
Yet to be identified gunmen had last Sunday rained when stormed the Catholic church where worshipers had gathered for the Pentecost Day.
After the deadly attack, no fewer than 40 people were killed and scores sustained varying degrees of injuries.
In honour of the victims of the terror attack, the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu ordered that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast for seven days.
