A 23-year-old man named Abidemi Oguntuyi has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State for stabbing his 40-year-old tenant to death.
The deceased, Abiye Friday, was a co-tenant with the suspect and was said to be mediating in a dispute between Oguntuyi and his brother when she was stabbed in the neck and other parts of her body.
Oguntuyi was taken to court on two counts of murder and attempted murder.
According to reports, the stabbing occurred on September 6, 2022, at about 11:00 am in Akungba-Ibaka Akoko’s quarters, Akoko South West Local Government Area of the State.
The police prosecutor, Simon Wada, requested that the suspect be held at the Olokuta Correctional facility while the court awaits the Director of Public Prosecutions’ recommendation.
Oguntuyi is to remain in police custody pending a ruling on the remand application, with the case adjourned till October 7, 2022, following the instruction of the Magistrate, D.S. Sekoni.
