Ondo NYSC Creates Awareness On War Against Drug Abuse

The NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ondo community on Saturday witnessed a rally against drug abuse.

The rally which was powered by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in collaboration with NYSC was aimed at deepening and entrenching the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative.

The rally was led by the NYSC State Coordinator, George Mfongang and had in attendance the Camp Director, Head of NDLEA, Assistant Directors, Heads of Assignments and camp officials and corps members who danced to beautiful music rendition from the NYSC band while marching round the camp.

Banners, fliers and leaflets with inscriptions like: "NO TO DRUGS, YES TO LIFE" were carried by corps members during the rally.

In his address, Mfongang charged the corps members to use their position as elite youths to curb the menace of drug abuse in the society first, by not buying, selling or doing it.

He also called on them to be agents of positive change by remaining at the forefront of eradicating or reducing drug abuse to the barest minimum in the society.

He noted that this could be achieved through education and enlightenment of the youths around them.

He attributed the vices in the country such as insecurity, ritual killings, prostitution amongst others as offshoots of drugs abuse.

Remarking, the Head of NDLEA on camp, Supretendent of Narcotics Peter Nwanevu on behalf of the State Commander NDLEA, appreciated the NYSC Coordinator and entire management of the camp for their huge support to the agency in its efficient and effective service delivery and fight against drug abuse in the society.

He also thanked the corps members and the NYSC band for making the rally a worthwhile event.
