121 out of 122 kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna State have so far been released.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, Reverend John Hayab confirmed this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Saturday.

Hayab said a total of 122 students from the school located at Maraban Damishi, Chikun Local Government Area were whisked away by gunmen on July 5, 2021.

He said the number of the released students includes one student who was freed on December 28, 2021, and another one who was freed on January 1.

“With the release of these two students, a total of 120 students have regained their freedom so far and only one student is still with the bandits,” he said.

The Bethel Baptist Secondary School children were kidnapped from their school in a daring move that caused outrage by Nigerians.

However, on September 24 2021, the Nigerian police force through its PPRO, CP Frank Mba said three members of the gang that kidnapped the students were arrested by the Police Special Tactical Squad led by DCP Kolo Yusuf.

While parading the three suspected bandits, all dressed in military uniforms which they use for their criminal operations, he gave their names as Isiaka Lawal, Muazu Abubakar and Adamu Bello.

Mba said the trio are part of the larger gang that carried out the horrible act of kidnapping young innocent school children and subjecting them to harrowing experiences.

“We just want Nigerians to know that no crime against innocent citizens, will be allowed to rest until we get the perpetrators, no matter how long it takes”, he said.

One of the bandits, Muazu Abubakar who said he is 27 years old, disclosed that their gang consists of 25 bandits that attacked the school and abducted the students.

Although the Nigeria police force has reported arrests of bandits and some terrorists, not much has been heard of them afterwards.
