One missing, 15 rescued in Lagos boat accident

The incident occurred this evening when a passenger ferry, the Tee Ben, bound for Ibeshe, collided with an unexpected shoreline concrete at a construction site near the power line corridor at the Lekki Ikoyi Link Bridge in Lagos.

The boat had departed from Addax jetty prior to the collision.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), not less than 15 people have been rescued from the scene of the accident.

However, one person is still missing, and one passenger sustained an injury.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with officers from the Search and Rescue Unit of LASWA, the Marine Unit of the Nigerian Police Force, and other relevant agencies present at the incident location.

The statement emphasized that efforts to locate the missing person and ensure the safety of all passengers are continuing. LASWA and other agencies involved in the rescue operations are working diligently to manage the situation and provide assistance to those affected by the accident.
