One Officer Killed As Gunmen Attack Police Station In Ebonyi

Gunmen attacked the 315 Police station in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

A Police officer was shot dead on Monday when unknown gunmen attacked the 315 Police station in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the station around 2am on Monday shooting continuously before proceeding to release about 30 suspects in custody.

Confirming the incidence, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Loveth Odah, said that the attackers were armed with patrol bombs with which they set some part of the station and some vehicles ablaze.

Odah also confirmed that an officer who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack later died on Monday morning. She however said that no detainee was freed by the gunmen during the attack.

This is one in a series of attacks targeted at security formations across the South East. Despite the formation of Ebube Agu security outfit by South East Governors, the attacks have continued unabated.
