Canada's Ontario Province declared a state of emergency on Friday, as truckers continue to hold protests against COVID-19 mandates.
The province Premier, Doug Ford said in a statement that; "I will convene the Cabinet to use legal authorities against the protesters."
"This is to urgently enact orders that will make crystal clear that it is illegal and punishable to block and impede the movement of goods, people and service along with critical infrastructure."
Ford also added that there will be a new legal action against protesters, including fines and potential jail time for noncompliance with government's orders.
The Canadian authorities have struggled to tackle the truck driver's protest against COVID-19 restrictions that has paralyzed the country's capital for days.
