Norwegian multinational technology company, Opera has introduced its new “Crypto Browser Project", with beta versions of the new web browser immediately available for PC, Mac and mobile phones, delivering a new web experience with Web3 at its core.
The Crypto Browser Project comes with features like a built-in crypto wallet, easy access to cryptocurrency/NFT exchanges, support for decentralised apps (dApps) and more.
Opera EVP, Jorgen Arnensen said in a statement that the new “Crypto Browser" is presently in its beta stage and the aim is to "simplify the Web3 user experience that is often bewildering for mainstream users,"
One of the key features of the innovation is the built-in non-custodial wallet that will assist blockchains including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Celo and Nervos from the get-go and has a secure clipboard that ensures other apps can't data when you copy/paste.
The idea is to let users access their crypto without the need for any extensions, with the option of using third-party wallets as well. Users can purchase cryptocurrencies via a fiat to the crypto on-ramp, swap crypto directly in their wallet, send and receive it and check their wallet balance.
According to Opera, the Crypto Browser supports Web3, aka blockchain-based decentralized internet and it provides extra security via blockchain encryption, allowing users to access things like GameFi "where users can earn as they play their way through all sorts of metaverses," Opera notes. It also offers a "Crypto Corner" with the latest blockchain news that also "lets users grow their Web3 skills".
