Oscar-Winning Actress, Cloris Leachman, Is Dead

American actress and multiple Emmy Winner, Cloris Leachman, who is best remembered for her portrayal of a lonely housewife in ‘The Last Picture Show’ has died. She died on Tuesday at the age of 94. 

Her publicist, Monique Moss on Wednesday said the actress died of natural causes in her sleep at her home in Encinitas, California.

Moss added that Leachman’s daughter was by her deathbed.

Her longtime manager, Juliet Green, said there was no one like her.

It’s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time," Green said in a statement;

“It’s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time.

“There was no one like Cloris. With a single look, she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh ’till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic.”

Cloris Leachman was an American actress and comedienne whose career spanned more than seven decades.

Some of the accolades she got include eight Primetime Emmy Awards from 22 nominations, making her the most nominated and, along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the most awarded actress in Emmy history. She won an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Daytime Emmy Award.
