Osinbajo Presides Over NEC Meeting In Abuja

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently presiding over the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.

In attendance at the first meeting in 2022 are, the governors of the 36 states and the FCT Minister, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha among others.

It was gathered that the meeting being held was physically attended by some state governors while others joined to participate virtually from their respective states.

According to reports, those physically present include Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Willie Obiano of Anambra, Doye Diri of Bayelsa, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Emmanuel Udom of Akwa-Ibom.

The council, after being briefed by the relevant government agencies on various economic programmes, is expected to issue a communique.

NEC meeting which is held monthly, is constitutionally mandated to advise the President of Nigeria, on economic matters.
