The Council of Imams in Osogbo and Olorunda local governments have thrown their weight behind Akin Ogunbiyi, the gubernatorial candidate and Kunle Jimoh, his deputy of the Accord Party.
In a statement issued by Imam Rasheed Sulaiman, the Secretary of Waliuthabau, the group said the decision was taken because of the integrity of the two candidates.
He added that another major reason why the Imams queue behind the duo was because the Accord Party deputy gubernatorial candidate was the Chairman of the group before his emergence as Ogunbiyi’s running mate.
“Imam Kunle Jimoh was the chairman of Waliuthabau in Osogbo and Olorunda local governments.
"He is honest man, trustworthy and diligent.
“Alhaji Kunle Jimoh is also a pious Muslim, although he can never tolerate nonsense.
"If you vote for him, you vote for Islam.
“We are using this opportunity to appeal for all Muslims in Osun state to please vote for Accord during the Saturday’s election," the group stated.
