The Nigerian Police, Zone 11 Command Headquarters, Osogbo and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun have both agreed to create and maintain a harmonious working relationship to give the Osun State electorate the best election in 2022.
This was contained in a joint agreement made available by Ayeni Benjamin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Zone XI Command, Osogbo.
The decision was arrived at after the visit of the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun, Professor AbdulGaniy Olayinka Raji to the Zone.
Professor Raji who stated that the purpose of the visit was to officially notify the command of the Osun 2022 gubernatorial election on July 16 noted that as a critical stakeholder, INEC wanted the Nigerian Police to render all the necessary support towards ensuring the success of the election.
While welcoming the INEC REC, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Zone 11 Command, Mukan Joseph Gobum assured that it was ready to provide a security blanket before, during and after the election in the state.
Represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, Ganiyu Salami, Gobum expressed delight that the Nigerian Police were carried along as partners with the Independent National Electoral Commission and pledged the readiness of the command to always cooperate strategically with the commission whenever the need arises.
