Osun Assembly Begins Screening For 2023 Budget

The Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye has advised various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to raise the bar of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the sake of efficient budget performance for the year 2023.

Owoeye made this known on Tuesday at the commencement of 2023 budget defence exercise at the House of Assembly Complex.

The Speaker who urged government MDAs and government institutions to improve on their internally generated revenue for the state to grow and move forward advised them to block all the loopholes acting against revenue generation.

“We need to work on reality budget for the state. I want all the MDAs to improve on IGR for growth” he added.

He also advised the various MDAs to be factual in their presentation and explanations.

Earlier, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation Taiwo Adebayo Olodo appreciated all the MDAs for their cooperation with House of Assembly.

While commending the state government for presenting the budget as at when due, Olodo added that the state needed the revenue for development.

He also warned that the House of Assembly would not condole with any MDAs with audit query.

Amongst the various MDAs that appeared for defense exercise today including Ministry of Works and Transport, Office of Transportation, Osun Road Maintenance Agency, OSUN Health Insurance Scheme, Osun Primary Health Care Development Board and Ministry of Health. 

Others are Osun Hospital Management Board, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osun State Water Corporation, Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, RUWESA and OSUN Water Regulatory Commission respectively.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the Osun State Appropriation Bill 2023 of ₦136 billion scaled through the second reading on the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly.

The 2023 Appropriation Bill named "Budget of Consolidation" has ₦96,377,740,930 for Recurrent Expenditure while capital expenditure has ₦39,888,247,710 making a total of ₦136,265,988,140.
