Osun Court Remands Notorious Criminal Over Contempt

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates Court has ordered the remand of 22-year-old Alawode Ridwan popularly known as Rado in Ilesa Correctional Center over alleged disobedient to court supremacy.

Ridwan had on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to a count charge of contempt against him.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, had told the Court that the defendant committed the offence between the months of July 22, 2022, and January 27, 2023, by failing to appear in his ongoing case in MOS/ 302c/ 2021.

Adeoye disclosed that several attempts to arrest the defendant proved abortive until he was tracked by the intelligence unit of the Osun Police Command and brought to Court.

He said the offence contravened sections 133(9) of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol. 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendant on the other hand had no legal representation when his case was called by the Court Clerk.

The Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, ordered the remand of the defendant due to the magnitude of the alleged offence committed.

Ayilara also adjourned the case to February 27 for hearing.
