Osun Debt Profile: Oyetola Should Explain His Role In Predec

A former Osun State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Wale Bolorunduro has revealed that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as Chief of Staff between 2011 and 2018 was the supervisor of all debts issues and the government official who sat over all approvals and allocation of funds for projects in the state.

The former Commissioner also disclosed that due to these responsibilities, the governor could not shy away from his responsibility to tell the people how every loan obtained were deployed.

Bolorunduro was reacting to a request by an Osun group, 'The Osun Masterminds' demanding that the Osun debt profile be made public.

The group also requested Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to demand from his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola the debt profile of the state.

Bolorunduro who held that the group was sponsored to tarnish the image of the former governor advised it to seek proper knowledge on debt issues.

While accusing the group and its leaders of dabbling into an issue they did not know of, Bolorunduro explained that Oyetola was the chairman of the Board of Osun Debt Management office during the tenure of Rauf Aregbesola and the repertoire of records.

The former commissioner said he handed over the finance portfolio of the state to Governor Oyetola in 2014 when he was the Chief of Staff to the governor.

He also added that as the Chief of Staff, he was also the one confirming final funds released by banks until commissioners were appointed in May 2017.

The Osun Masterminds, a social accountability group based in Osun had last week requested the Osun State Governor to publicly make known the debt profile of the state.

They also in their demand requested that the governor demands from his predecessor, an account of how loans obtained for the state were deployed.
