Osun education sector will record improvements — Commissio

The Osun State Government has assured that the state's education sector will continue to improve under the present administration.

This assurance was given by the duo of the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Murtala Jimoh at a press briefing on Friday.

The duo also stressed that the steps taken so far by the present administration are the ones that portend a better future for the sector.

Eluwole was optimistic that it is just a matter of time for Osun to take the much sought leadership position as encapsulated in the plans of Governor Ademola Adeleke for the education sector due to the measures being taken to improve the sector.

He said the recently held education summit has started to yield results as the recommendations arrived at during the summit have been very useful.

"As you can see, the government has shown to the world that it is keen and determined to improve the education sector for better results, the foundation has been laid and there will be no going back.

"We have shown the zeal and we have shown the passion that things must improve henceforth, steps are being taken and we shall not relent to make things get better."

The Permanent Secretary, Murtala Jimoh on his own part said discipline with decorum is already returning to classrooms of public schools across the state as a result of disciplinary steps being taken by the Ministry.

He used the occasion to appeal to parents to play their parts very well as stakeholders in the education sector.

"Government through the Ministry of Education will continue to ensure that the right thing is done for teaching and learning to take place, we will continue to provide the right environment for learning and we will continue monitor and motivate our teachers.

"Parents and guardians also have a critical role to play in complementing government's efforts, a new term is about to commence, parents and guardians should prepare their children very well for the new academic term.

"Government will always play its part, some of those steps include the ongoing recruitment of teachers into public schools across the State, this is to tell you that Government is taking the education sector seriously."
