Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stepped in to cover medical expenses for students affected by the ceiling collapse at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

In a statement by his Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, the governor offered to foot the medical bills of the affected student, while sympathising “with the management of the university and the parents of the students.”

Eluwole, acting on behalf of the governor, paid a visit to the injured students in the hospital, commending the school authorities for their swift reaction to the situation.

It would be recalled that the ceiling of the Amphitheatre fell down while students were in lecture, injuring some students.

The management of the university attributed the incident to “torrential rainfall and whirlwind,” shutting down the lecture theatre following the incident.
