Osun Governor-Elect Warns Against Illegal Civil Service Recruitment

The Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has described the alleged recruitment of 75,000 cadets of the Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES) into the Osun State civil service as a calculated attempt to further financially cripple Osun State.

This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to the governor-elect.

According to the statement, "Our attention has been drawn to a diabolical move by the outgoing Osun State government to issue letters of appointment to about 75,000 O-Yes volunteers.

"We remind the public that the state government had shortlisted the volunteers for election purposes a few days before the last election.

"The APC government even went overboard by collecting and registering the voters' cards of O-Yes youth applicants all in its desperate bid to win the governorship poll.

"When all scheming and plotting failed, the state governor has now embarked on his Plan B which is to further wreck the state by deepening her current bankruptcy and indebtedness.

"There is nothing, except deep hatred for Osun people, that will make a government struggling to pay salaries and pensions to want to illegally recruit 75,000 new staff.

"There is no justification except a desire to impoverish and punish people for exercising their rights to vote out an insensitive, lying government."

The governor-elect who reminded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola that his actions were eroding his goodwill urged him to toe the path of honour and responsibility.

While warning that his administration will not accept illegal recruitment nor be responsible for any commitment so entered into, he added that any step taken without due process and compliance with extant laws will be immediately nullified upon assumption of office.

"We use this medium to call on Governor Oyetola to toe the path of honour and responsibility by not destroying the state further through his many vindictive post-election actions and plans.

"The Governor should be reminded that his hostile post-election actions are further eroding what remains of his goodwill.

"We want to finally put it on record that our administration will not accept any illegal recruitment nor be responsible for any commitment so entered into. 

"Anything done without due process and compliance with extant laws will be immediately nullified upon our assumption of office including among others reported the sale of Osun mining titles, last minute high profile appointments in key agencies, illegal election into local governments, disposal of government assets and the issuance of letters of appointment to the O-Yes volunteers."

Meanwhile, reacting on a radio current affairs programme, Ismail Omipidan, the spokesperson of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola stated that the governor-elect does not have any legal instrument to govern.

Omipidan added that the instrument of legality would be handed over to Senator Ademola Adeleke on November 27, 2022.

The governor's spokesperson revealed that all the projects embarked on by the government were embarked upon before the election.

While appealing to the Peoples Democratic Party not to run the present administration down, he added that the recruitment into OYES started before the election and the process was still ongoing.

He also maintained that the governor, Adegboyega Oyetola should be commended for not allowing the Osun gubernatorial election to cut short all the projects he had embarked on.
