Truce may be on the the way towards resolving the imbroglio that engulfed the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Osun State Chapter during the last Workers Day celebration at Osogbo Township Stadium, Osogbo.

On May 1, 2024, two factions of NULGE eyeing leadership positions in next year delegates conference of the association engaged in open confrontation which resulted in two members sustaining various degree of injuries.

The incident was thereafter reported to the Nigeria Police.

However, it was learnt from a source that one of the factions under Pius Onasakponme had tendered unreserved apology to the union and other government functionaries for the show of shame displayed on May 1, during the celebration of 2024 May Day programme.

He described their conduct as unethical and untraditional.

"He has therefore apologised for what happened on the faithful day despite the fact that election into various positions in NULGE, Osun State is a year away and promised that such incident will not repeat itself," the source said.

Pius Onasakponme and Tajudeen Alimi were fingered in the alleged incident in which two members of NULGE, Sofiat Raji and Femi Oyeleke were attacked by members of other faction.
