Osun PDP Swears In New Vice Chairman Amidst Crisis

Osun PDP Swears In New Vice Chairman Amidst Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has sworn in a new Vice-Chairman 'East' and Financial Secretary for the party.

The swearing-in is coming on the heels of the crisis and recent suspension handed down to Wale Ojo who doubled as the Osun Vice Chairman East and Senatorial Leader of the party.

The two newly sworn-in executive committee members Akindele Famuyide Olayiwola as Vice Chairman East and Ayobami Folorunso as Financial Secretary.

In a statement made available to AllNews by Ayodeji Areola, the Osun PDP Publicity Secretary, the party Chairman, Sunday Bisi revealed that the duo were recommended to the state executive committee of the party by the local government party chairmen and leaders of the party in the zone.

He also stated that the two were ratified to replace Wale Ojo and Alhaji Remi Arogundade who were earlier in the week removed from their respective offices due to gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

The two new state working committee members were charged to see their appointments as required by the constitution of the party as a challenge to their political credentials.

They were also tasked to do everything within their means to improve the electoral fortunes of the party in their zones.

Wale Ojo, with the backing of Olasoji Adagunodo, a former embattled PDP chairman in the state and current National Vice Chairman South West and five gubernatorial aspirants of the party had last week declared himself the acting Chairman of the party.

The move did not go down well with the Sunday Bisi led state executive committee who later ratified the suspension earlier handed down to Ojo and some other executive committee members.
