Owo Massacre: Ondo Muslim Community Condemns Attack

The Ondo State league of Imams and Alfas has expressed shock at the terror attack that rocked Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo on Sunday.

Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo was attacked by yet to be identified gunmen on Sunday, June 5, 2022, and in the ensuing commotion, many worshipers were killed and scores injured.

In a jointly signed statement by Sheikh A. O. Aladesawe and Sheikh Abdulrosheed Akerele, Chairman and Secretary, the league condemned the attack in its entirety, describing it as barbaric and uncivilized.

While commiserating with the family of those who lost their lives in the ugly incident, the league announced that the entire Muslims in Ondo state sympathised with the Catholic mission in particular and the Christians in Owo.

The league also prayed that such an ugly situation will not repeat itself.
