Oyo 2023: Adelabu Becomes Accord Party Guber Candidate

Oyo 2023: Adelabu Becomes Accord Party Guber Candidate

Adebayo Adelabu has been declared the Accord Party gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election in Oyo State.

Adelabu popularly known as Penkelemesi was affirmed as replacement for Ayodele Oyajide, who was formerly the candidate of the party after completing the substitution of candidate process as required.

The National Chairman of Accord Party, Muhammad Nalado and Olubukola Ajala, the National Secretary, graced the affirmation ceremony.

Also, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and party members were present.

Adelabu, who was governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 election, had on June 2 announced his defection to the Accord Party, where he said he would pursue his gubernatorial ambition.

Adelabu's defection became inevitable after he declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary held on May 27 a charade.

Senator Teslim Folarin won the May 27 primary and was declared APC gubernatorial candidate.

However, uncertainty had reigned on whether or not Adelabu had secured the governorship candidature of the Accord Party with Saheed Ajadi consistently claiming in the media, to be the governorship candidate of the party.

INEC had also stated that Accord Party had informed the Commission of plans to conduct fresh processes towards the emergence of its candidates.
