Reports have revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has dropped his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan, as his running mate for a second term ticket.
It was gathered that in his place, Bayo Lawal, the Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation has been selected as his running mate to contest in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The decision to drop Olaniyan who is the erstwhile deputy to Makinde is not yet known but speculations are rife that this could be part of a political calculation.
Prior to the PDP gubernatorial primary election in Oyo State, different interest groups in the state chapter of the party laid allegations against the governor.
Despite the allegations, Makinde emerged as gubernatorial candidate of the party.
