Oyo Commissioner Presents letter To 32 Youth Parliamentarian

Seun Fakorede, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, has presented letters of representation to members of the newly-constituted 2nd Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Kazeem Israel, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde had on April 23 approved the reconstitution of the youth parliament designed to strengthen youth participation in governance.

The letters were presented to 32 newly-selected representatives.

Fakorede had on October 20 spearheaded a screening committee that comprised representatives from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Other institutions that participated in the screening processes are the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State House of Assembly and Oyo State Youth Agency.

In the letters, Fakorede charged the representatives to understand that the youth parliament was not funfair, adding that it is aimed at preparing the selected youths for governance and enhancing their participation in politics.

The commissioner said that the selection process was necessary to register a new system devoid of unnecessary political colouration for better representation.

He congratulated the youth representatives, admonishing them to represent their respective constituencies and deliver on the expected objectives.
