Oyo Court Convicts 13 Suspects For Cyber-Related Crimes

13 people were found guilty of cybercrimes in Oyo State by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspects were picked up around the state at various locations before being brought before Justices Olusola Adetujoye and Bayo Taiwo of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan.

Twelve of the offenders were prosecuted in separate one-count cases before Justice Adetujoye, and one before Justice Taiwo.

Upon being charged by the anti-graft agency, they all entered a "guilty" plea at their arraignments.

To convince the courts to convict and sentence the defendants appropriately, the prosecution's attorneys, Oyelakin Oyediran, Sanusi Galadanchi, Samsudeen Bashir, and Mabas Mabur, analyzed the facts of the cases.

A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren said “the courts ordered that the convicts restitute their various victims and forfeit all items recovered from them to the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
