Oyo Government Seals Shops Over Indiscriminate Refuse Dumpin

The Oyo State Government has sealed more than 80 shops in the popular Sango area of Ibadan.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the shops were sealed because their owners were caught dumping wastes and refuse on the road median.

Recall that the ministry had earlier in January, arrested 10 persons and locked up 20 shops in different areas of the city for non-compliance with environmental sanitation laws.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abiodun Oni reiterated that the enforcement exercise is a necessary checkmate to the activities of shop owners and companies, in respect of compliance with environmental sanitation law and urged citizens and residents to desist from disposi ofng refuse on road median, and patronise the licensed refuse contractors allocated to their respective areas.
