A middle-aged suspected cultist identified as Victor was set ablaze in Osogbo, Osun State, by members of a rival cultist group after bullets and machete failed to harm him.
According to an eyewitness account, the incident occurred around the Akede Area of Osogbo on Sunday.
It was gathered that Victor was chased to the area and was shot repeatedly but the bullet did not penetrate his body.
"When the bullets failed to harm him, he was hacked by rivalry cult members but the machete had no effect on his body.
“Then the cultists poured petrol on him and set him ablaze.
“Some of us rushed towards him to extinguish the fire but he was greatly burnt.
“He was taken to hospital and the police were aware. He did not die but he is severely burnt.”
The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola also confirmed the incident on Sunday.
"The perpetrators will be arrested as our men have commenced investigation into the matter,” she said.
