Paris 2024 qualifier: Super Falcons depart Abuja for Cameroo

Nigeria's women's national football team, Super Falcons will depart Abuja on Wednesday night for the economic and industrial capital of Cameroon ahead of this Friday's qualifiying fixture against the Indomitable Lionessess of Cameroon for the 2024 Olympics Women's football tournament in Paris. 

Coach Randy Waldrum ha named 21 players for the trip to Cameroon albeit two of his players are yet to join the rest of the squad. 

As at the time of this report, midfielder Toni Payne is expected to report to camp while Uchenna Kanu will be in camp on Wednesday morning. 

Nigeria have not qualified for the women's football tournament of the Olympics since 2008 in Beijing as they lost all group games against Democratic Republic of Korea, Germany and Brazil. 

The team failed to qualify for the 2012, 2016 and 2020 editions in London, Rio and Tokyo.

 The first leg of the penultimate rounds of qualifiers to Paris will be played at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala on Friday evening while the second leg holds on Monday evening at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abuja. 

The nine-time African women's champions beat Ethiopia in the second round of the qualifying series to se up the fixtures against the Indomitable Lionessess.
