Paul Unongo: Former Minister Of Steel Dies At 87

Former Minister of Mines and Steel Development in the second republic Wantaregh Paul Iorpuu Unongo is dead.

The ailing erstwhile Minister who hails from Benue State was confirmed dead a family source on Tuesday.

The source said an official statement will be issued by the family.

Aged 87, the late Unongo was a Former Secretary General of the defunct Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NPP), a member of two Constitutional Review Committee under General Sani Abacha regime and Goodluck Jonathan government.

He also served as Chairman Northern Elders’ Forum having succeeded late Maitama Sule and until his death, was Governing Council Chairman, Nigerian Educational, Research Development Council (NERDC).
