PDP Governors Converge In Enugu Over Peter Obi Endorsement

Five Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met in Enugu on Sunday.

The Governors are Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State and the host Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

It was learned that the meeting which was held behind closed doors centred on the possibility of delivering the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in 2023.

An insider who did not want to be identified said the five governors were moved to back Peter Obi’s candidacy because they are not comfortable with the PDP flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

The PDP has been embroiled in lingering crisis since the party's presidential primary which produced former vice president Atiku as its candidate.

Abubakar's choice of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa did not also go down well with those loyal to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Wike and four other governors are insisting that the party's Chairman, Iyochia Ayu must resign before they could join other PDP chieftains in campaigning for Abubakar.

Wike has also on three occasions hosted Peter Obi, the latest being just a few days ago.
