The former governor of Anambra State and presidential aspirant under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi has dropped out from the presidential race.

Obi also quit his membership of the PDP.

This development comes barely 72 hours to the presidential primary election for the PDP.

Obi had toured the country to meet and woo party delegates to support his ambition.

Sources revealed that Obi has already submitted letters of withdrawal from the race and the party.

AllNews Nigeria obtained a letter penned to the national chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, to intimate him of his decision to quit the party and withdraw from the presidential race.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe has called on Nigerians to be hopeful that Obi would be on the ballot paper come 2023 election.
