Phone Snatching: Kano NSCDC Arrests Five

Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCD) has arrested a syndicate of five phone snatchers in the state.

They were arrested in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State.

The command's spokesman, DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi in a statement on Wednesday said the suspects have since confessed to their crimes.

According to the spokesman, the suspects told the command that they have buyers of the phones and sim cards on standby.

"The suspects namely: Faisal Usman, m, 28yrs, Mansur Isa,m, 38yrs, Abdullahi Bashir,m, 25yrs, Ahmed Ibrahim,m, 21yrs as well as Zulkifil Bello,m, 25yrs."

"They used to operate and engage in the dastardly act around Sabon gari, Fagge Local government area where they steal and snatch handsets belonging to innocent people," the statement added.

He added that men of the Corps intelligence and investigation department are on the trails of other members of the syndicate including Sunday, who buys the stolen sim cards, then steal money from victims' bank accounts and Abdullahi who buys the stolen phones.

 The spokesman added that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is complete.

 DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi promised that their officers would fight phone snatching, crimes and criminality as well as protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in Kano.
