Amidst IPOB’s sit-at-home controversial exercise in Imo State capital, mammoth crowd were on ground to receive President Muhammadu Buhari during his one-day working visit to Imo State on Thursday.
Buhari's visit to Imo State is to commission projects such as Nekede Road, Egbeada Bypass, Balloon drainage system, and New Exco Chamber and Lounge which was accomplished today.
Meanwhile, in a Monday broadcast by one of the IPOB executives, Mazi Chika Edoziem, it was declared that Nigeria’s president is not “welcomed into Imo State, Biafra Land on Thursday, September 9, 2021.”
According to him, “all the traditional rulers, all ndi iche and every Biafran should stay away from any ceremony organized by Hope Uzodimma to welcome him.”
Despite the IPOB’s sit-at-home order, the President who flew into the heartland city of Owerri from the seat of power in Abuja on Thursday morning had a town hall meeting with Igbo leaders.
Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, and Abia State Deputy Governor were present at the event.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Egbeada Bypass at Owerri North Local Government Area, Buhari commended Governor Hope Uzodinma.
The President said the projects will boost economic activities in the State and ease traffic congestion.
He said all projects commissioned were in line with his administration policy.
