Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District in the National Assembly Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut has empowered over 300 persons including widows, youths and the less-privileged individuals from the six local government areas of her senatorial district.
The lawmaker on Friday explained that the empowerment which was streamlined to build the capacity of selected women and youths is basically to change the financial situation of the beneficiaries and also make them self employed.
Items distributed to the beneficiaries includes mini tillers, irrigation water pumping machine, house solar units, spark fans, rural sparks, sewing machines, complete sets of hair dressing saloon kits, grinding machines and complete sets of barbing saloon kits.
Represented by her Legislative Assistant Rufina Grumyem said empowering them was part of her campaign promises and her contributions to improve the economic development in the zone.
“Women empowerment, especially widows, is a major area of interest to me in our Senatorial District."
"Economic development hinged on industrialisation, employment, infrastructural provision and youth development constitute my priority,” she said.
Senator Nora Daduut however implored the lucky beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment for the betterment of their life and people around them.
