Police arrest 30 criminals in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command, in conjunction with other security agencies, has apprehended 30 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities throughout the state.

According to a statement released on Monday by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, the arrests were made as part of collaborative efforts to combat crime in the region.

Among those detained are Mohammed Garba, aged 25, and Ibrahim Mohammed, aged 22, who stand accused of fatally stabbing a man during a burglary at his residence.

“The Command sympathises with the bereaved family and assures the community of appropriate punishment for the culprits.

“However, most of the culprits arrested have served imprisonment terms in the past from similar offences”, he noted.

The PPRO stated that items recovered from the suspects include a knife and five cellphones of different brands.

“Meanwhile, a discrete investigation has since commenced for subsequent prosecution as the command urges good members of the communities to support security agencies by providing useful information of any suspicious movements and criminals’ hideouts”, he said.
