Police Arrest 35-Year-Old Man For Defiling Minor

A 35-year-old man, Dahiru Shuaibu, has been arrested by men of the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl.

The suspect, of Sabon Gari community in Girei, near the state capital, Yola, is said to have taken undue advantage of the minor who lives within the same neighbourhood.

This was disclosed in a police press statement that was signed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje on Sunday.

In the statement, the Police Command assured that the victim would get all necessary medical attention, adding that the suspect would be duly prosecuted to ensure the victim gets justice.

The statement read in part, “The Command through its gallant men attached to Girei Division apprehended a 35-year-old Dahiru Shuaibu, a resident of Sabon gari Sangre in Gerri local government area for having carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl.

 “The Adamawa Police Command wishes to reassure members of the public that the Command has deployed proactive mechanism for intelligence led-policing and crime-fighting to beef up security across the state to protect women and children from sexual harassment.

“CP Olugbenga Adeyanju equally affirms the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and properties and forestalls any act that may likely cause a security breach.”
